Simple yoga or breathing or relaxation therapies are also a question of concern during pregnancy, either continuing as someone who practises regularly or starting out as a complete newbie. So to encourage and prepare the expectant couples for labour and childbirth together, Cloudnine Group of Hospitals organised a couple yoga session to mark the International Day of Yoga.
The session focussed on learning simple breathing and relaxation techniques in order to cultivate a greater understanding, develop a greater confidence in pregnancy, labour and childbirth.
Experts demonstrated several asanas such as Baddha Konasana Yoga (Butterfly pose), Vrikshasana (Tree Pose Yoga), Tadasana (Standing Mountain Pose), Virabhadrasana (Warrior Pose) along with a few pranayamas and Dhyaana (meditation). Experts also emphasised how yoga and breathing techniques such as “Lamaze”, which is an exceptional combination of exercise, breathing and relaxation, work together to alleviate pain during labour and promote natural birth.
They encouraged all the couples to practise yoga together, which in turn helps in developing a positive attitude, build immunity, manage stress and boost the health of the growing foetus.
Dr Madhu Srivastava, Director – Department of Obesetriction and Gynaecology, Cloudnine Group of Hospitals, said, “Yoga not only offers strength and stamina but also helps in ensuring minimal discomfort during pregnancy and thereby promoting natural processes.” Dr Pawan Kumar, Regional Director (North), Cloudnine Group of Hospitals, said, “ We are the first hospital in Noida to offer this coveted course which is given by the best trainers during the eighth month of pregnancy.”
