World Environment Day 2020: Easy Steps to Save Mother Nature

world environment day

World Environment Day is observed on June 5 every year to make people aware to save nature and natural resources. This time it is being at a time when the coronavirus-imposed lockdown to contain the spread of the deadly virus. This has done wonders for nature as it has apparently helped in healing the environment. We have cleaner air, the pollution level is at its low, rivers – which could not be cleaned despite several efforts and spending crores of rupees, is now cleaner than ever. So much so that the water quality of Ganga at Haridwar’s ‘Har ki Pauri’ has been classified as ‘fit for drinking.’

So, on World Environment Day 2020, let’s start taking some very easy steps to protect the environment:

Plant A Tree: How many of us have ever planted a tree? It’s not a big deal as you can easily find a park or public space near your house to plant a tree. Trees purify the air, act as habitat for wildlife, control climate, etc.

Save Water: Water is one of the most essential elements of life. One cannot imagine life without water. So save it from getting wasted. This is can be done very easily. You just need to be careful while using it next time. Stop all kinds of leakage of water, close the sink tap while brushing and turn it on only when you really need it and if possible try to recycle water used at home.

Stop Using Tissue: We can use towels for drying hands and face instead of tissues which are thrown away after a single-use.

Avoid Single-Use Plastics: Plastic is now more or less part of our life. But we can easily shun single-use plastic – which is a major source of pollution. For example, instead of disposable razors, one can use an electric or hand razor.

Adopt Public Transport: This will reduce pollution to a great extent. So start using public transport every now and then. In fact, make a habit of using it at least once a week. This way you can contribute to the environment.
