It has never been easy for women to juggle a thriving career and a happy family life. Being a full-time working mom comes with bouts of stress and guilt for not being able to give equal time to work and family.
It’s the 21st century and women from all walks of life are choosing to have it all — a blissful family, a rewarding career, and some solitude to find some time for themselves.
In an exclusive interaction with HealthWire, Dr. Manjari Tripathi, Professor of Neurology at AIIMS Delhi, talks about the ‘Work-health balance for Women’
“There is no field where women are not being able to do what is assigned to them. Women are active in almost every sphere — be it a homemaker, or a teacher or a doctor, a pilot, a lawyer, a judge. Women are working with dedication and sincerity. In fact, many women are so devoted to the work that they like to be the perfectionist. They like to do whatever they can to excel in their professional fields,” says Dr. Manjari.
She added, “This is the biggest asset that women have and they like to complete their work within or before the given deadline. It is uncommon to see a woman giving an excuse. They stay away from their duty only for a genuine reason — either it is related to her health or the health of someone at her home.”
Women should never ignore their health. She must give time to herself to make sure that her health is fine. She should be in the best of her health — physical, mental and spiritual health. No woman can afford to put her health on the backburner.
What environment should women create to have a successful work balance?
Dr. Majari said, “It is very important to know why you need to work. There have been several instances in my life where I could have easily said that I don’t need to work as there’s already somebody who is working in the family. It is essential to have the strong support of better half and have complete cooperation and understanding from your family.”
