Olympic Silver Medalist Mirabai Chanu, the Indian weightlifter snared a historic silver medal in the women’s 49kg weightlifting at the Tokyo International Forum.

Recently, Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff took to Instagram and shared his workout video on Sunday after getting inspired by the Indian weightlifter.

In the post, the actor can be seen balancing the heavyweight on his shoulder while he performed a set of squats.

Sharing the workout video, Tiger Shroff wrote: “140 kgs and counting So so inspired to get stronger and go beyond my limits thanks to #mirabaichanu what a performance! go team India! #tokyoolympics @mmamatrixgym @mirabai_chanu.”

The post received several comments including one from Jacky Shroff. “Bless ya Bhidu keep spreading Goodness,” he wrote.

Many other Bollywood celebrities also commented on the post. Ritesh Deshmukh wrote: “Unbelievable-more power to you brother.” Bhaktyar Irani wrote: “Kiiing it bro.”

Mirabai ranked third in the world and had a total lift of 202kg with 87kg in snatch and 115kg in clean and jerk. After Karnam Malleswari’s bronze in the 69kg category at the 2000 Sydney Olympics this is India’s second medal in the sport.

Mirabai has now won medals in the Commonwealth Games, Asian Championships, and World Championships with the silver at the Olympics.

In the lead-up to the Olympics, a new world record had been set by Mirabai in clean and jerk (119kg) in a bronze-medal show of 205kg, at the Asian Championships in Tashkent in April this year. The 26-year-old was thought as a medal prospect for India at the Olympics which opened on Friday after a one-year delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mirabai has now completed a redemption path that started from the disappointment at the 2016 Rio Olympics in the process. At first place in Olympics it was a horror show for her in the 48kg category when she was unable to lift in all three clean and jerk attempts.

The effect was so hard her that she had to take the help of a sports psychologist to get over the happenings of Rio. Five years from Rio, she mentally became strong with richer experience, Mirabai completed the turnaround at Tokyo by becoming the second Indian woman and fifth individual overall to win a silver medal at the Olympics.
