Self-care is action or a step that an individual takes to manage their overall health effectively. Self- care is important as it helps us to take a break from our hectic life and every day hassles. It helps us to relax, refresh and renew. It brings out a balance in our life. Taking care of ourselves mentally, physically and socially is very essential, given the number of stressors and challenges that are present in our life. Most people will find it odd if you ask them “how do you take care of yourself”.

At times people get confused on what to answer or even if there is any answer to this question, we do not have a set routine, or anything specific when it comes to self-care. The need to understand here is that self- care is something very basic and important and yet we consider it a luxury. Taking care of yourself is the basic need for all individuals. It boosts motivation, concentration, happiness and reduces stress and anxiety and also fosters healthy personal and professional relationships. Engaging in self-care every day for even 10-15 minutes will help in managing our mood and our overall wellbeing.

Make a list of things that make you feel better. It can be anything from staying at home and relaxing to going out with friends and family or to just do not do anything at all for few minutes. We all have our own ways of dealing with the stressors that are present in our life so wisely invest in self-care, not every person will have a fixed self-care routine for themselves.
