Why using onion juice for hair is a great idea?

Ayurveda has already advocated using onion juice for hair growth and now modern science also finds merit in this idea.

According to the findings of a clinical trial published in the Journal of Dermatology, onion juice is an effective topical therapy for alopecia areata. It is a type of disorder that leads to patchy hair loss.

Even if you don’t have this autoimmune disease, onion juice helps in nourishing your hair follicles by enhancing blood flow to the scalp and helps in boosting your hair growth.

Here’s how Malaika suggests you can use onion juice for hair

Malaika suggests some simple ways to use it. She says the method is fairly simple :

  • You just need to grade one medium-sized onion and extract the juice from the pulp
  •  You can do this either by using a muslin cloth or a sieve.
  • Collect the juice in a bowl, dip a cotton bud in it, and apply it all over your scalp section by section.
  • Keep it on for about half an hour or 45 minutes, and then wash with your favorite shampoo.

She says, “I assure you that this helps that hair loss you’ve been experiencing and in a couple of weeks you can see that that hair loss stops (sic).

All of this proves that onion juice is indeed a great remedy for hair loss. However, if you want to try this therapy at home, do a patch test first to ensure that you don’t suffer from any adverse effects.

And if you have a sensitive scalp or have been consulting a dermatologist for your hair loss, do talk to an expert before trying this.
