Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya recently spearheaded a momentous pledge for organ donation at the GIC Ground in Agra. This initiative underscores the critical role organ donation plays in saving lives and promoting the well-being of individuals in need.

A Unified Effort Towards a Noble Cause

Dr. Mandaviya’s pledge was made in the presence of several dignitaries, including Prof. SP Singh Baghel, Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, and Shri Brajesh Pathak, Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. The event garnered participation from around 8,000 individuals who expressed their commitment to donate organs in Agra.

The Call to Donate: Blood and Organs

During the event, Dr. Mandaviya emphasized the significance of donating both blood and organs. He passionately advocated, “Donate blood when alive and donate organs after death,” highlighting the enduring impact such contributions can have on the lives of others.

Supporting Organ Transplant Recipients

Recognizing the challenges that organ transplant recipients face, Dr. Mandaviya announced a government initiative to provide financial assistance of Rs 10,000 per month to impoverished individuals undergoing organ transplants. This assistance includes provisions for regular check-ups, ensuring the well-being of transplant recipients.

Expanding Organ Retrieval Facilities Nationwide

The union Health minister unveiled plans to establish organ retrieval facilities in all hospitals and medical colleges across the country by the end of 2024. This step aims to streamline and improve organ donation processes, making it more accessible and efficient.

Inauguration of Super Specialty Block

In addition to the organ donation pledge, Dr. Mandaviya inaugurated a state-of-the-art super specialty block at Sarojini Naidu Medical College in Agra. This facility, constructed at a cost of Rs 200 crores, is set to benefit millions by providing specialized medical services.

Easy Registration for Organ Donation

To facilitate organ donation, an organ donation registry was unveiled. Individuals can easily register as organ donors using their Aadhar numbers and linked mobile numbers, contributing to the noble cause of saving lives through organ donation.

A Synergistic Approach to Healthcare Coverage

The event marked the beginning of ‘Seva Pakhwada,’ a campaign to ensure comprehensive healthcare coverage from September 17th to October 2nd, 2023. This initiative aims to make healthcare accessible to every village and town in India, aligning with the ‘Ayushman Bhav’ campaign’s goal of healthcare inclusivity.

Community Involvement in Healthcare

The ‘Ayushman Bhav’ campaign promotes community involvement through various initiatives like Ayushman Apke Dwar 3.0, Ayushman Melas, and Ayushman Sabhas. These programs aim to provide health cards, early diagnosis, primary healthcare services, teleconsultations, and raise awareness about health schemes and organ donation.

A United Effort for Healthcare Access
