World Hearing Day 2023: In a bid to raise awareness about the importance of ear and hearing care, March 3 is observed as World Hearing Day. The international day, observed annually, also encourages people to understand ways to avoid deafness and hearing loss. The day plays an important role in making sure that everyone tries to address issues related to ears.
World Hearing Day 2023: Theme
To highlight issues related to hearing, the World Health Organization (WHO) picks a theme each year. It also prepares brochures, posters, and flyers and distributes them in a bid to make people aware of the day.
For World Hearing Day 2023, the theme is – “Ear and hearing care for all!” The main motive behind selecting a theme is to convey the message of this international day in an easier way.
The theme of World Hearing Day 2023 highlights the importance of integrating ear and hearing care in primary care. This emphasises the fact that these things are essential parts of universal health coverage.
In 2022, the theme for World Hearing Day was “To hear for life, listen with care!” It focused on the urgency and means of hearing loss prevention via safe listening.
World Hearing Day 2023: History
The first World Hearing Day event was observed in 2007. Also, World Hearing Day was known as International Ear Care Day before 2016. It was in 2016 when the WHO declared that the day will be observed as World Hearing Day. WHO’s Office for the Prevention of Blindness and Deafness organise this day.
