A visit to the dentist can be a little intimidating, with the big and loud machines so close to your face its hard not to imagine what pain might come along with the procedure, but thanks to the technological developments and the new innovations in the modern dental practice, you don’t have to worry about the pain! Laser dentistry is a less invasive and a more comfortable option for a number of dental procedures like treating hyper sensitivity, tooth decay and gum diseases. When compared to drills and other non-laser treatments, Laser dentistry is a lot less painful, lowers the chances of bacterial infection post treatment and the bleeding during the procedure is less. The two main types of laser dentistry are procedures done on hard tissues, that are teeth and soft tissues, that is the gums. On the occasion on World Oral day we spoke with Dr. Gyanendra Kumar, Maulana Azad Medical College, to know all about Laser dentistry.
