India Fatality Rate Dips To 1.76% Amid Rising Coronavirus Cases: State-Wise Data

The spread of the novel coronavirus in India has quickened in the last few days with new cases of Covid-19. The health ministry reported a single-day spike of 78,357 new positive cases and 1,045 deaths reported in India, in the last 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health, “India’s Case Fatality Rate (CFR) stands at 1.76%, one of the lowest globally while global CFR stands at 3.3%. India is reporting 48 deaths/million population, also one of the lowest in the world while the global average is 110 deaths/million population.”

Most of India’s cases are in Maharashtra. However, infections are rising rapidly in states like Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh, together these states have 62.2% of total 7, 85,996 active cases, even as they also account for 58% of the total recoveries recorded in last 24 hours, health ministry data shows. New surges are also being recorded in the country’s vast hinterlands. With that, every state and union territory in the country, except Lakshadweep, now has at least 1,000 people who have been infected with the disease.

Assam has registered a total 2, 684 new Covid cases on Tuesday taking the total figures so to 1, 11,724. Out of the new cases on Tuesday, 618 were reported from Kamrup Metro, 174 from Cachar, 157 from Dibrugarh and 141 from Jorhat

In as many as 15 states and UTs, Covid-19 cases are ‘alarming’. Data analysis cases till 02 September 2020, 8 AM states, states with 1-10000 confirmed cases, states with 10001-90000 confirmed cases, states with 90000+ confirmed cases, and total no. of confirmed cases so far.

India is the country with the third-highest coronavirus caseload in the world after the United States and Brazil. Globally, there have been over 2.56 crore confirmed cases of Covid-19. More than 8.54 lakh people have died so far. Yet, India’s recovery rate continues to rise and now stands at 77 percent.
