Healthwire Media in collaboration with Public Advocacy Initiatives for Rights and Values in India (PAIRVI) Delhi Govt organized an event called Think. Breath. Act 2021 for the betterment of our environment. The initiative was inspired by the environmental conditions during and after the lockdown.
We all experienced the freshest air of the era or of our life during the lockdown as all the vehicles and transportation got suspended for a few days. Also, public gatherings were limited to time and places which helped the environment to have clean and fresh air after ages. But as we are going back to normal life, we are facing the same problem.
Most cities are facing a higher level of pollution once again which will be causing various diseases and health problems.
Raghav Chadha (Delhi Jal Board Vice Chairman), AAP said, “The Arvind Kejriwal Government has been successful in reducing 25% of air pollution in the capital.”
Soumya Dutta is an Indian energy expert, green activist and researcher working on climate justice, said, “In Delhi 35-40% of the public lives in a slum area that does not come under the pollution measured area and this differentiates them from the main area. There are technical and non-technical solutions to reduce the amount of pollution”
By keeping these things in mind and for a better future with a better environment Healthwire media is organizing a panel discussion on air pollution and health. Think.Breathe.Act in collaboration with Delhi Govt.
Social and Environmental Activist KBC-5 Winner, Sushil Kumar was also a part of the event and he said, “We took an initiative to plant Champa trees in our district Champaran at every house possible to spread awareness among people”
“We should focus on the health impact of any project or work & start working on them only after finding the solution for it. This should be followed specifically in north India,” said Prof. Ritu Priya, JNU.
