In the coming three-four months, more clinics will be opened and I hope the target of 1,000 mohalla clinics will be achieved in Delhi. In the last five years, 15,000 beds were added to government hospitals.”
The CM recalled the journey of installing mohalla clinics and mentioned that they remembered how the government started from a few clinics to where it has reached today benefitting people across Delhi.
The Delhi CM also recounted the many uphill challenges and obstacles the government faced in its bid to expand the healthcare project on micro level. He also cited how in the beginning many files carrying the proposal of the clinics had to bite the dust for two years and pending for one-two years. He said that it was the Supreme Court which passed the judgement and eased the process of opening new mohalla clinics.
While addressing the media, Kejriwal said, “Though Delhi has several big hospitals, common people find it difficult to go to the hospitals for treatment of small illness like fever, cold, cough etc. “So, we realised that if we start smaller clinics in nearby locations, people can access treatment and medicine without traveling a lot.
