Coronavirus: China to Build 1000-bed Hospital in 10 Days to Treat Patients

Wuhan, January 24-In order to treat patients at the epicentre of a deadly virus outbreak that has stricken hundreds of people, China is rushing to build a new hospital in a staggering 10 days in the central city of Wuhan, state media reported Friday.

According to the officials, the new hospital which will have 1000 beds, is expected to be operational by February 3.

Spread over 25,000 square metres, the facility will serve patients infected by a coronavirus that has left at least 26 people dead, many hundreds affected and millions barred from travelling even within China in order to contain its spread, according to a report in NDTV.

The central China metropolitan of Wuhan will follow Beijing’s SARS treatment model to build a special hospital for admitting patients infected in the outbreak of pneumonia caused by the novel coronavirus, tweeted offical state media CCTV and posted a picture of dozens of excavators and trucks working on the site of the under construction hospital.

A cording to Xinhua, the new facility is aimed at “alleviating the shortage of medical treatment resources and improving the ability to care for patients”.
