CATS ambulance driver attempts self-immolation outside Kerjriwal’s residence

New Delhi: A 42-year old man working as a driver with the CATS ambulance services attempted to self-immolate outside the residence of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday, officials said.

 

The incident happened outside the Delhi CM Residence in civil lines where the drivers of CATS ambulance service were on a hunger strike for the last three days demanding salary hike and regularization of their jobs, the Drugs Today reported.

 

“The victim who was with the CATS ambulance service for the last eight years attempted to self-immolate and now has been admitted to the Sushrata Trauma Centre,” a senior official said.

 

Doctors said the victim has suffered multiple burn injuries but his condition is currently stable.

 

CATS provides pre-hospital emergency medical responsive services to the general public through outside contracting.

 

These services are being expanded, increasing in process the reach and scope of existing services provide under “Centralised Accidental Trauma Service (CATS)”.
