In a bid to help cancer patients in the state, the Haryana government has decided to provide a monthly pension of Rs 2,500. The state govt has set aside a separate annual budgetary allocation of Rs 68.42 crore for this purpose. It is to be noted that so far Tripura was the only state in India that had been giving financial assistance to cancer patients.
Tripura government has been providing monthly financial assistance of Rs 1,000 to stage three cancer patients.
The announcement comes after Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had in May assured family members of cancer patients of all possible support.
According to officials of the state, financial assistance will be provided to those patients whose family’s annual income is less than Rs 3 lakh.
In order to make sure that the benefit of the scheme goes to the right people, the income verification of such patients would be matched with Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP).
The Haryana government said that financial assistance will be provided to patients till they are alive. Those who want to take benefits of the scheme will have to upload documents verified by the committee of the Civil Surgeon Office through Saral Kendra.
