Meditation is the habitual process of training your mind to focus and redirect your thoughts. It will not carry you to another world, but it also reveals the most profound and awesome dimensions of the world in which you already live. Meditation can give a sense of calm, peace and balance that benefits both emotional well-being and overall health. People use it to increase awareness of themselves and their surroundings. Many of them think of it as a way to reduce stress and develop concentration. People use the practice to develop other beneficial habits and feelings, such as positive mood and outlook, self- discipline, healthy sleep patterns and even increased pain tolerance.
Make Me Pure conducted a survey in which data reveals that meditation has helped Indians during the pandemic and participants rated positive motivation higher. The survey was conducted for approximately 1500 individuals aged between 18-60 years living in various cities. The practice of meditation is on the rise, as data showed that almost 40% of the people meditate daily.
76% say that meditation was mainly used for general wellness, 60% say for improving energy and 50% claim for aiding memory or concentration. 64% reported that meditation has helped a lot in dealing with conditions like stress, anxiety etc. The survey also sheds light on how meditation helps different age groups differently. Peace and happiness was the number 1 reason as correspondents said they practise meditation across age groups.
The survey found that women meditate to seek peace and personal growth, for better sleep and stress management.
